The FKMCD Board of Commissioners finalized their decision to add two non-binding referendums regarding the proposed Oxitec OX513A Mosquito Trial to the General Election ballot on November 8th. One referendum will be for Key Haven residents and one will be for Monroe County in its entirety.
FDA announced comment period for draft environmental assessment for genetically engineered mosquito to begin on Monday, March 14, 2016. For more information and to read the FDA’s release, please click here.
The FKMCD Board of Commissioners voted on April 21, 2015 at the Regular Board Meeting to postpone final approval of the Investigational Agreement with Oxitec until review of either the FDA Draft Environmental Assessment or the Final Environmental Assessment (whichever is released first). The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) has approved the Oxitec Rearing Facility and Monitoring Lab (please note that this is not approval for the release).
