    Florida Keys Mosquito Control District is currently accepting applications for:

    Field Inspector – Full Time Permanent position – Florida Keys Mosquito Control Facility – Key West, Florida

    The Field Inspector is responsible for mosquito control and surveillance activities to aid the district’s larvicide and adulticide programs. Such work shall be conducted in accordance with all applicable Federal, State and Local laws, and in accordance with District policy as established by the Board of Commissioners
    and administered by the Executive Director. The Field Inspector assesses larval and adult mosquito populations throughout an assigned area, establishes a monthly route and works from that route to include and survey all residences in the assigned area, makes control decisions in the field deciding the appropriate
    control method(s), applies the control method(s) in accordance with the applicable laws and District policy, collects and identifies mosquito species in the field, records all daily activity in the handheld computer, uploads data into the District’s database, and reports mosquito problems to Supervisor as needed in a timely manner.     Required Qualifications:

    • Valid Driver’s License,
    • Graduation from high school or equivalent.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Biology or Entomology background,
    • Previous Mosquito Control Experience,
    • Knowledge of mosquito biology, control practices, and insecticides.

    Seasonal Field Tech Position (6 Month appointment)-  Florida Keys Mosquito Control Facility – Key West, Florida

    The Field Tech assist in mosquito control and surveillance activities to aid the district’s larvicide and adulticide programs. The Field Tech will assist in assessing  larval and adult mosquito populations throughout an assigned area, establishes a weekly route and works from that route which may include and survey all residences in the assigned area, makes control decisions in the field deciding the appropriate control method(s), applies the control method(s) in accordance with the applicable laws and District policy, collects and identifies mosquito species in the field, records all daily activity in the handheld computer, uploads data into the District database, and reports mosquito problems to Supervisor as needed in a timely manner.

    Hourly Rate: $17.00 –  Not an FRS qualified position and is not eligible for benefits.

    FOG TRUCK OPERATORS- Marathon, FL –  Accepting applications- 

    This is an on-call position and is not FRS eligible.  If interested in becoming a fog truck operator please stop by the Marathon office and pick up an application.
